What is Sequential Access?
This is memory access method in computer and in this method, the memory is accessed in a specific linear sequential order. In this method a data is accessed after accessing it's previous data. Like their is a data at index 9 which we want to access so in this method first we have to pass through previous 8 indexes.
In this type of memory the data is stored and read in a fixed order. And one of the most common example of this type of memory is audio or video cassette. Sequential access devices are usually a form of magnetic memory. And the phrase sequential access simply refers to the fixed order of access.
Applications of Sequential Memory Access
1. Magnetic Tapes
2. Magnetic Disk
3. Optical Memories
