What is Multimedia in Computer

The word multimedia is generated by combining the words multi and media. "Multi" is short for "many." One kind of media that makes it simple to move information from one place to another is multimedia.

Unlike traditional mass media, like printed material or audio recordings, which feature little to no user interaction, Through the use of computers, multimedia presents and combines text, images, audio, and video with tools and links so that users can explore, engage, create, and communicate.

Components of Multimedia

The common elements of multimedia are as follows:

  • Text
  • Graphics
  • Animation
  • Audio
  • Video

Text

Text is used in all multimedia products in some capacity. To fit the multimedia software's professional appearance, the text might have a variety of font styles and sizes.

Graphics

The multimedia application is visually appealing. People frequently dislike reading lengthy passages of text on screens. As a result, images are more frequently employed than text to introduce ideas, give context, etc.

Animation

The process of making a static image appear to be moving is called animation. A sequence of still images exhibited continuously is called an animation. It is possible to draw attention with the animation. Additionally, animation adds lightness and beauty to a presentation. In multimedia applications, animation is highly common.

Audio

Speech, music, and sound effects may be needed in a multimedia program. These are referred to as the multimedia's audio or sound elements. Speaking is another excellent educational tool. Analog and digital audio are available. The original sound signal is referred to as analog audio or sound. A computer saves audio in digital format. Digital audio is thus the type of sound used in multimedia applications.
