Introduction

Wireless networks are computer networks that are not wired together. The network nodes typically communicate with one another using radio waves. They enable devices to roam across the network's coverage area while still being connected to the network.

Wireless Network Types

There are three types of Wireless networks.

  • Wireless LANs

  • Wireless MANs 
  • Wireless WANs 


1. Wireless LANs

One type of wireless network is a wireless wide area network (WWAN). Different technologies are needed for wide area networks due to their bigger scale than local area networks. Data is delivered via wireless networks of various sizes like web pages, video streaming, and phone conversations. Using mobile technology, a WWAN frequently differs from a wireless local area network (WLAN).Use wireless distribution techniques to link two or more network devices. 


2. Wireless MANs 

The only difference between a wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) and a metropolitan area network (MAN) is that the former uses wireless connectivity. It serves a range of more than 100 meters and encompasses several places within a geographic area. 


This particular form of wireless networking covers an area roughly equivalent to a metropolis. It often covers a region that is smaller than a wireless wide area network (WWAN) but larger than a wireless local area network (WLAN).


3. Wireless WANs

One type of wireless network is a wireless wide area network (WWAN). Different technologies are needed for wide area networks due to their bigger scale than local area networks. Data is delivered via wireless networks of various sizes like web pages, video streaming, and phone conversations.
Wireless WANs -LANs, MANs, and personal networks are all connected by wireless wide area networks (WANs).


Wireless Network Benefits

  • Since the devices do not have to be connected to one another, it increases the mobility of network devices connected to the system. 
  • Since there is no need to put out wires, it is convenient to access network devices from any point inside the network coverage or Wi-Fi hotspot. 
  • Since there are no connections or wires, it offers desks that are clutter-free.
  • Wireless networks are simpler to set up and install. 
  • Since new devices don't need to be wired to the current equipment, they can be readily added to the system. Additionally, since the number of equipment additions and deletions to the system is not restricted by the cable capacity, it can fluctuate greatly. Wireless networks are therefore highly scalable. 
  • Very few or no wires are needed for wireless networks. As a result, it lowers setup and equipment expenses.


Wireless networks Drawbacks

  • Hacking into wireless networks is simple. 
  • When installing wireless networks, a precise radio frequency is needed. 
  • Although wireless networks are often low-cost, they can be significantly expensive to set up and install. People with little experience are hard to set up.
  • The speed of the transmission is comparatively lower.
  • It features network security flaws and a constrained transmission bandwidth.
